Scott Ferrell completed his twelfth year as the head coach of the boys' and girls' track and field teams at GlenOak in
2012, once again guiding the Golden Eagles to very successful seasons. He began at GlenOak in 1993 as the head girls coach
until 2000, when he took the reigns of both boys and girls teams.
The GlenOak track program has thrived under Ferrell's leadership, claiming 12 Federal League championships,
9 District Championships, 4 Regional Titles,12 Top 10 team finishes at the State meet, and 131 athletes earning All-Ohio honors.
Coach Ferrell began his coaching career at GlenOak in 1993 as the head girls' coach. In 2000 he became Head
Boys' and Girls' coach, working primarily with sprints, relays and jumps.
A 1985 Colonel Crawford High School (Bucyrus, OH) graduate, Ferrell finished 7th in the 200m during the 1985
State Track and Field Meet and held the Regional record at 22.50 (fat). He graduated from Malone in 1991 with a degree in
Secondary Education after a successful collegiate track career. Ferrell was a NAIA National Qualifier and a school record
holder in the 4 x 100.
Ferrell received a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Ashland University in 2009. Prior to his
time at GlenOak, he served for two years (1991-92) as an assistant track and field coach for two years at Malone University,
where he worked with sprints and relays.
He served on the Midwest Meet of Champions coaching staff, for 3 years, working with sprinters, relays, long
jumpers and high jumpers. Coach Ferrell is a certified USATF Level 1 coach, an active USATF member and a USPVCA certified
member.
He and his wife, Missy, and their two children, Anthony (16) and Delaney (12), reside in Plain Township.
